put the dog on a leash…wear a different bra?

Are you making your life harder than it needs to be?

My brother and I had a lightbulb moment the other night at our parents' house for family dinner. Their dog, Frey, is still a puppy (albeit in a large dog's body) and goes bonkers when we're all gathered in the kitchen…especially in the presence of two puppy-sized humans (my brother's twin bebes).

What we know is that Frey is generally a wild man but he's shockingly obedient when he's on a leash. But the leash is for OUTSIDE times. Because that's the rule. (?!?!?)

But what iiifff we skirted around that rule and put Frey on a leash when he was inside around company?! Revolutionary. Trailblazing. Unprecedented!!

He immediately calmed down and we laughed about the random restrictions our brains impose simply bc that's "THE WAY WE DO THINGS!"

I had a similar laugh with a friend who's been doing a lot of running recently. The sports bra she wears for long runs is rubbing in certain spots and giving her blisters. When I asked if she perhaps might try wearing a different bra…she laughed and was like, no that would be too easy and make my life better and I'm used to it BEING HARD so that's how it must remain!!

(this is the same friend who gently suggested I might get a heating pad for my debilitating cramps or glasses so I don't have to worry about putting in contacts during a middle-of-the-night-emergency-scenario….I'm one out of two for now).

What “rules” are you living by that are making your life harder right now?

What are the “have to's” and “shoulds” that your brain is lording over you?

If one of them is that you “have to” stay in your job that isn't fulfilling, I invite you to challenge that belief and get inspired about what your career COULD be during my free workshop next Thursday called “How to Find Your Calling: 3 secrets to turning your calling into a career that lights you up.” Click here to sign-up!

I'll leave us with the profound wisdom of En Vogue - “Free your mind and the rest will follow!”

Happy Friday!

Love,

Jessica
